Many visitors come to Kyoto for its famous temples, but if you enjoy architecture and art, don't miss the Garden of Fine Arts Kyoto.
Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, this open-air museum combines exposed concrete, flowing water, natural light, and geometric spaces to create a truly unique experience.
Instead of original paintings, the museum displays large ceramic reproductions of masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper, Michelangelo's The Last Judgment, and Monet's Water Lilies.
Getting there:
From Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line to Kitayama Station. Exit from Exit 3, and the museum is just a 1-minute walk away. It's located next to the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, making it an easy stop for a relaxing afternoon.
This is one of those quiet places where architecture, art, water, and light come together beautifully.
